Fire Engulfs Building in Włochy; Six Firefighter Crews Respond

On the night of 29 November in Warsaw’s Włochy district, an unoccupied building on Techników Street caught fire, drawing six fire crews until early morning with no injuries reported.

Call and Initial Situation

At 23:34 on Saturday, 29 November, the fire brigade received a report of a blaze at an empty ground‑floor building with an attic on Techników Street in Włochy, Warsaw. By the time the first crews reached the scene, the fire had already spread over a large portion of the structure.

Firefighting Strategy

Six crews deployed four fire streams: two targeted at the burning building, the other two protecting adjacent structures to prevent further spread. Due to the extent of damage, partial demolition of the building’s framework was also undertaken.

Post‑Fire Search

After the open flame was extinguished, firefighters conducted a thorough interior search and used a thermal camera to ensure no hidden fires remained. No persons were found inside, as the abandoned building had long been vacant, though it sometimes hosted homeless individuals.

Scene Management and Safety

The firefighting operation concluded around 04:10 am. Police cordoned off the area and secured the scene, while utility crews checked for electrical connections and assessed potential hazards before commencing cleanup.
