Firefighters in Kanie, Lubelskie, Poland, had their e-waste collection disrupted by a theft just before Easter, impacting funding for equipment.
E-Waste Collection Disrupted by Theft
Firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Brigade KSRG Kanie reported on April 3rd that their e-waste collection drive had been “brutally disrupted.” The incident occurred during a collection organized by the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Kanie (Lubelskie Voivodeship).
Stolen Appliances Impact Funding
An unknown perpetrator stole all refrigerator compressors stored in a container near a former dairy. The collection aimed to raise funds for equipment and personal protective equipment for the firefighters, to better serve and protect residents.
Losses Felt Before the Holiday
The theft means the firefighters will be unable to pass on a portion of the collected appliances, and consequently, will not receive the associated financial resources. They expressed their disappointment, stating, “It is simply upsetting.”
Appeal for Information
Despite the loss, the firefighters intend to continue their activities and will not abandon their initiatives. They are appealing to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity near the e-waste storage area to come forward with information to help identify the perpetrator, and have notified the appropriate authorities.
