Fisherman Falls Into Żerański Canal, Rescued by Firefighters

A fisherman fell into the Żerański Canal in Warsaw’s Białołęka district around noon, prompting a swift rescue operation by fire services.

Incident on Marywilska Street

Around 12:00 PM, an incident occurred on Marywilska Street in the Białołęka district of Warsaw, involving a fisherman falling into a branch of the Żerański Canal.

The man fell into the water for unknown reasons, but was quickly pulled to safety by firefighters and handed over to medical personnel.

Initial Findings and Rescue Operation

Preliminary reports indicate the fisherman managed to hold onto a tree branch after falling into the canal. Three fire departments were dispatched to the scene – two from JRG 10 and one from JRG 1, including a water-rescue team.

The commander of JRG10 also participated in the operation.

Firefighter Rescue and Medical Attention

Firefighters from JRG 1 arrived first, with one firefighter entering the water and pulling the man to shore. The man was conscious.

Despite being in generally good condition, he exhibited symptoms of immersion and was transferred to a medical rescue team.

Police Investigation

Police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the incident. The cause of the man’s fall into the water remains unknown at this time.
