Initial Collisions and Roadblock
Two collisions occurred on May 1st, after 12:00 PM, on the S8 highway near Radio Street, in the direction of the Konotopa interchange. A total of five vehicles were involved, initially blocking the roadway.
The incidents caused significant delays for drivers departing the capital city for the May Day holiday. Investigations revealed two separate rear-end collisions occurring a short distance apart.
First Collision Details
The first collision involved three cars and energy-absorbing barriers. A BMW driver collided with a Volkswagen Golf, pushing it into the barriers. The Golf then struck a Chrysler. A Volkswagen Passat following behind managed to avoid involvement.
Second Collision Details
The second collision occurred behind the Passat. A Kia braking ahead was rear-ended by a Hyundai. In total, five vehicles were involved in both incidents.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including firefighters, medical rescue teams, and police, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters secured the area and the damaged vehicles. Medical personnel examined the individuals involved in the collisions.
