A 29-year-old driver led Otwock police on a dangerous high-speed chase because he feared he was still over the alcohol limit, only to test sober for booze but positive for marijuana.
The High-Speed Evasion
Otwock traffic police attempted to stop a 29-year-old Audi driver who acted erratically upon seeing a patrol. The man ignored light and sound signals, choosing to flee through the streets of Otwock and Józefów, committing numerous traffic violations in the process.
The pursuit came to an abrupt end when the driver struck a curb, damaging a tire and rendering his vehicle immobile. Officers quickly subdued and detained the suspect at the scene.
A Misguided Justification
Following his arrest, the driver provided an unusual explanation for his flight. He claimed he had consumed a beer hours earlier and panicked, believing he would be found intoxicated.
A breathalyzer test confirmed the man was entirely sober. However, officers proceeded with a drug test, which revealed the presence of THC in his system.
Legal Consequences
The driver faces charges for failing to stop for a police control and for operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics. His Audi has been impounded, his driving license has been confiscated, and his case will now be decided by the court.
