Poland’s Institute of Meteorology warns of dense fog and frost across much of the country this weekend, with visibility dropping to as low as 200 meters in some areas.
IMGW Issues Fog Warnings
Polish meteorologists issued widespread fog warnings on Friday, covering eastern Poland until 10 a.m. Visibility may fall below 200 m, reaching 100–200 m along the northeastern corridor from Elbląg through Łódź to Nowy Sącz. The alert applies to voivodeships such as Pomeranian (eastern and southeastern counties), Kuyavian‑Pomeranian (eastern counties), Warmian‑Masurian, Podlaskie, Masovian, Lublin, Podkarpackie (except southern counties), Łódź (eastern county), Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland (northern counties), and Silesian (except southern counties). From Sunday until 7:30 a.m., the northern part of Poland—including Kuyavian‑Pomeranian, Pomeranian and Warmian‑Masurian voivodeships—also faces dense fog warnings.
Weekend Weather Outlook
Friday: Clear skies. Saturday: Light rain may appear in the south; the west will see sunshine, while the center and northeast will be more overcast, with temperatures 8–13 °C and mountainous areas about 2 °C. Nighttime lows could drop below zero. Sunday: Increased clouds and light rain; temperatures 6–10 °C north and east, 9–11 °C center and south, with cold nights, occasional frosts and fog. Forecast for the Next Week
Monday: Cooler conditions and more rain—maximum temperatures 6–10 °C, nighttime lows 3–6 °C. Tuesday: Cool and cloudy with possible brief showers; daytime 6–10 °C, night 3–5 °C. IMGW expects the end of the week to bring daytime highs up to 12–14 °C and multiple sunny spells.
