Forbes Names Warsaw First Among European ‘Cities of the Future’

Forbes magazine has placed Warsaw at the top of its 2026 list of ‘European Cities of the Future,’ eclipsing traditional capitals such as Vienna, Madrid and Geneva.

Forbes crowns Warsaw #1 among European future cities

In its report “European Cities Of The Future: 10 Places To Visit In 2026,” Forbes ranked Warsaw first, positioning the Polish capital ahead of cities like Vienna, Madrid and Geneva.

A green and smart capital tops multiple rankings

The city also scored highly on separate Forbes lists that evaluate green, smart and investor‑friendly attributes, confirming its blend of rapid development, extensive green space and growing tourist appeal.

With nearly 47 % of its area devoted to parks, including around 80 parks and botanical gardens such as Łazienki Królewskie and Ogród Saski, Warsaw ranks fifth in the 2025 “Greenest Cities in Europe” survey.

Recognition extends to public spaces and tourism infrastructure

The “Burza” action park on the Warsaw Uprising Monument received the European Public Space Award and was honored in the LILA competition, highlighting its multifunctional design that combines recreation, remembrance and biodiversity.

European Best Destinations awarded Warsaw the title “Best European Capital of MICE & Leisure 2026,” citing its hotel infrastructure, rising tourist traffic, safety record and favorable price‑quality ratio.

Economic and investment‑friendly profile

In the “European Cities & Regions of the Future 2025” ranking, Warsaw placed third among large European cities, topping the business‑friendliness and human‑capital/lifestyle categories.

The city is also listed among Europe’s smartest, most sustainable and most business‑friendly cities in various international analyses, attracting investors and event organisers alike.
