Former Fiat Factory Transforms into $1 Billion Data Center in Silesia

DL Invest Group is investing nearly $1 billion to convert a former Fiat factory in Bielsko-Biała, Poland into a major data center with up to 200 MW capacity.

Massive Investment with Strategic Location

The scale of the project is enormous – planned investment amounts reach $1 billion, with the facility’s target capacity potentially reaching 200 MW. The new data center will be located in Bielsko-Biała, developed by DL Invest Group and Boosteroid.

Collaboration with Boosteroid Positions Poland as Tech Hub

The new data center will replace a site that was one of the most important industrial points in the region for over two decades. The Bielsko-Biała complex will become a key element of digital infrastructure, serving Boosteroid, one of the world’s largest independent cloud gaming platforms. This collaboration means Bielsko-Biała will become one of the most important infrastructure points for this platform in Europe.

Existing Infrastructure Offers Significant Advantages

One of the major advantages of the Bielsko-Biała complex is its existing energy infrastructure. The former Fiat factory site has its own Main Power Supply Point with 82 MW capacity, providing a significant advantage over new locations where such infrastructure would need to be built from scratch. The facility’s capacity will eventually grow to 200 MW, making it one of the largest of its kind in Poland and one of the most important infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

Beyond Data Center: Research and Development Plans

The project extends beyond just building a data center. The investor also plans to use existing office buildings to create a research and development center and service center. Companies such as Magneti Marelli, Electropol and Avio already operate on the complex. DL Invest Group has declared its willingness to cooperate with the defense sector, potentially including engine production for the Polish Army.

Historical Site: From Fiat Factory to Technology Hub

The history of this site dates back to 1992 when FCA Poland was established, evolving from the Small Car Factory in Bielsko-Biała and Tychy. The specialized in producing internal combustion engines and manufactured over 7.3 million units during its 21 years of operation. The end of production in 2023 led to the dismissal of approximately 800 workers who received severance totaling 70 million zł.

Financing and Sustainability Focus

The planned investment in Bielsko-Biała is valued at approximately $1 billion. The project will be implemented in accordance with rigorous ESG standards and BREEAM certification, emphasizing energy efficiency, emission reduction, and sustainable environmental management. Financing for DL Invest Group projects is based, among other things, on issuing eurobonds listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
