Former Marshal Convicted for S3 Collision

Former Lubuskie Marshal Marcin Jabłoński was convicted for a June 26 collision on the S3 motorway, fined 4,000 PLN, and barred from driving for 18 months in a decision handed down on 8 December.

Sentence for S3 Collision

On Monday 8 December the District Court in Świebodzin delivered a verdict concerning the incident that took place on June 26 on the S3 expressway. The court found former Lubuskie marshal Marcin Jabłoński guilty of causing the collision. He must pay a fine of 4,000 PLN and is prohibited from driving for 1½ years.

Key Video Evidence

A witness video of the collision was presented and proved decisive for the court. Judge Piotr Filipczak stated that Jabłoński’s conduct was aggressive and unjustified. The court determined that the politician failed to maintain a safe distance, did not signal his maneuvers, and therefore acted negligently. Jabłoński’s attorney has announced an appeal.

Collision Details

The incident occurred on June 26 near Sulechów in Lubusz Voivodeship, where a Skoda and a BMW collided. Jabłoński, driving the Skoda, was overtaking the other vehicle. After the collision he refused to accept the ticket, resulting in the case being taken to court. Media reports indicate that he caused a disturbance with police officers and claimed that the police mishandled the situation.
