Verdict Details
The District Court in Płońsk issued a guilty verdict against two former police officers of the Płońsk County Police Headquarters on January 30, 2026. The court found them guilty of exceeding their authority during night patrol duty from April 18 to 19, 2025.
Offense Details
As reported by Press Spokesman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Płock, prosecutor Bartosz Maliszewski, the case was processed under Article 387 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The conviction concerned acts under Article 231 § 1 of the Penal Code.
The established irregularities consisted of consuming alcohol during service, allowing unauthorized persons to consume alcohol while being transported in a marked patrol car, and taking intervention while in a state of intoxication. During their service, the officers left the patrol car and stayed in a private residence while continuing to consume alcohol and possessing service firearms.
Sentencing Information
One of the accused was additionally found guilty of driving a vehicle while under the influence, an act under Article 178a § 1 of the Penal Code. For the acts under Article 231 § 1, both convicted individuals were sentenced to 6 months of imprisonment, with one additionally fined 4,000 zł.
The second accused received a 6-month prison sentence for driving while intoxicated and a 5-year ban on driving any mechanical vehicles. For both acts, he received a combined 10-month prison sentence. The court conditionally suspended the prison sentences for both former officers for a 2-year probation period and placed them under court supervision.
Legal Status
Additionally, for the patrol car driver, a monetary compensation and surcharge of 10,000 zł were ordered to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance. Both convicted individuals were ordered to bear the costs of proceedings at 5,183.40 zł each.
The spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Płock emphasized that the verdict is not final.
