The Central Police Authority (CBA) detained three additional individuals in a probe into former Silesian deputy marshal Bartłomiej S. linked to the Civic Platform. The ex‑official faces bribery charges and served several months in custody.

Subsequent arrests in the investigation concerning Bartłomiej S.

On Tuesday, the Prosecution Office reported that last week CBA officers arrested an architect and two developers from Częstochowa. The detentions are tied to the investigation into former Silesian deputy marshal Bartłomiej S. The suspects were charged with providing “financial benefits” to Bartłomiej S. while he served as deputy mayor. The alleged acts involved favoring investor interests by amending spatial planning and building permits. The suspects pleaded guilty. They were given financial sureties, police supervision, and a travel ban.

Arrest of Bartłomiej S.

Former deputy marshal Bartłomiej S. was seized by the CBA in October last year. He faced corruption charges. “The investigation determined that while serving as deputy marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, and previously as deputy mayor of Częstochowa, Bartłomiej S. accepted financial and personal benefits from business operators, particularly within the city of Częstochowa,” the CBA stated. He was sent to prison and released in May.

11 suspects in the investigation

The Prosecutor’s Office announced that 16 breaches totaling 11 suspects have been identified, covering the acceptance and provision of financial benefits to a public office holder and laundering of proceeds from crimes. Bartłomiej S. is a long‑time Civic Platform activist who was removed from party membership following the accusation. He served on the Częstochowa city council, was deputy mayor from 2019‑2024, became the Silesian deputy marshal in May last year, and resigned after the CBA’s arrest.
