Former Village Heads Eligible for 373 PLN Monthly Pension Supplement

Thousands of Polish seniors can increase their monthly pensions by 373.67 PLN by applying for a lifelong supplement designated for former village heads through KRUS.

Supplement for Former Village Heads

Thousands of seniors are eligible for a higher pension, though many have not yet applied for the special allowance for former village heads. This benefit is paid for life and is granted regardless of the amount of the basic pension received from ZUS or KRUS.

Required Documentation and Application Process

The key to obtaining the supplement is presenting a certificate of service as a village head, issued by the mayor or city president of the relevant municipality. This document is required for KRUS officials to initiate the benefit procedure.

Alternative Proof via Witnesses

Under regulations effective since September 2024, seniors who cannot obtain an official certificate due to missing archives may submit a personal statement. This statement must be confirmed by the signatures of at least three individuals who resided in the village during the applicant’s tenure.

Eligibility Criteria

The law precisely defines the group of beneficiaries. The only legal obstacle to receiving these funds is a final court conviction for a crime committed in connection with the performance of duties as a village head.

Non-Automatic Payouts and Valuation

KRUS does not issue these payments automatically; a formal application must be submitted to a regional or local KRUS branch. As of March 1, 2026, the gross monthly supplement is 373.67 PLN, amounting to an additional 4,484 PLN per year.

The Importance of Prompt Action

With rising energy and food costs, this supplement provides essential help for bills and medication. Because the benefit is not retroactive for missed periods, every month of delay results in a permanent loss of nearly 400 PLN.
