Four Arrested in Railway Sabotage Investigation

The National Prosecutor’s Office says four people were detained in connection with railway sabotage on 15‑16 November 2025, but only one faces charges unrelated to the acts.

Detention of four individuals

The prosecutor reports that four suspects were arrested during the investigation of sabotage acts carried out on 15–16 Nov 2025. The evidence collected did not justify charging them with participation in the sabotage; consequently, three were released after serving as witnesses, while the fourth was released due to insufficient evidence.

Charge for document concealment

The fourth detainee faced a charge unrelated to the sabotage: concealment of documents, including Russian passports, which they were not legally entitled to possess. As the suspect had no fixed residence, the prosecutor requested a temporary arrest, which the court did not grant.

Evidence points to two Ukrainian suspects

On 21 Nov 2025 the prosecutor stated that evidence suggests a strong probability that two Ukrainian nationals, Oleksandr K. and Yevhenii I., were the direct perpetrators of the attacks.

Specific sabotage allegations

On 19 Nov 2025 charges were filed accusing the two Ukrainians of committing sabotage on 15–16 Nov 2025 to aid Russian intelligence. The alleged acts involved damaging railway tracks in the village of Mika and the traction network in Gołąb, posing a severe threat to railway safety and endangering lives and property.
