The Przasnysz District Prosecutor’s Office ended its inquiry into the November 29 crash after determining that the driver was deceased, rendering criminal prosecution impossible.
Crash Details
The accident took place at approximately 10:00 p.m. on the Chorzele–Wielbark road, near a forested area in Mącice municipality. Two passenger cars were involved: a Volkswagen Passat traveling toward Wielbark and a Skoda Superb heading toward Mącice.
Vehicle Occupants
The Passat carried three men; the driver and a 48‑year‑old passenger died on the scene, while the third was hospitalized with serious injuries. The Skoda, with a driver and a passenger, both fled the wreck and later died when the vehicle caught fire.
Speed and Substance Findings
Forensic reconstruction indicated the Passat was traveling at about 104 km/h, exceeding the 90 km/h limit. Blood tests showed the driver had 3.52 ‰ alcohol, was under MDMA, and had trace amphetamine.
Legal Outcome
Based on evidence, the prosecutor held the Passat driver responsible for the collision. Because he died, no criminal charges were pursued, but the dismissal is not final, allowing for potential appeals.
