Today, a four‑month‑old child from Mościce was admitted in critical condition to a hospital in Gorzów Wielkopolski; the parents have been temporarily detained.
Hospitalization and Transfer
Gorzowski TVP3 branch reported that a four‑month‑old child from Mościce (Lubusz Voivodeship) was admitted in a critical condition to a hospital in Gorzów Wielkopolski.
The infant was subsequently transferred to a facility in Zielona Góra and later to Nowa Sól, where medical staff continue to monitor him/her.
Social Assistance Background
Social workers saw injuries on the infant’s body and alerted the Social Assistance Centre in Witnica.
The family had been receiving financial support and was assigned a family assistant, but according to Tomasz Taupa, manager of the Witnica Local Social Assistance Centre, the parents did not cooperate—particularly the father, with the mother at least.
Medical Update
The child is stable, calm, and has an appetite. He/she is in the pediatric neurology ward and will be observed for up to two months, according to Dr. Dawid Moczulski of Nowa Sól Hospital.
Charges Filed Against Parents
The parents were called to the scene by ambulance and the case is being handled by the Gorzów Wielkopolski District Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecution alleges serious child abuse with extreme cruelty, failure to provide aid, and endangering the child’s health and life; the accused face up to ten years imprisonment.
Temporary arrest was imposed by investigators.
Custody of Second Child
The couple’s second child, a four‑year‑old boy, was taken from the family and placed in temporary foster care.
Prosecutor’s spokesperson Mariola Wojciechowska‑Grześkowiak said that details are restricted due to the nature of the proceedings.
