Polish MPs propose allowing local municipalities to decide on free tap water provision in restaurants.
Free Tap Water for Restaurant Customers
Polish MPs are proposing a system where municipal councils would establish rules for providing complimentary tap water to restaurant customers.
Proposed Regulations
The regulations would stipulate that each customer must receive at least half a liter of free water. The proposal also outlines which establishments would be subject to this requirement.
Previous Attempt
A similar initiative by the Left party failed in the Polish parliament (Sejm) last year. That version would have mandated free tap water in all restaurants nationwide.
New Approach
This revised proposal takes a more decentralized approach, allowing local authorities to make decisions about water provision standards.
Legislative Process
The new regulations have been incorporated into a parliamentary bill focused on water quality standards.
