Polish meteorological institute IMGW has issued first‑degree warnings of ice, heavy snowfall, and strong winds across multiple voivodeships, effective Thursday onward.
IMGW Warnings of Ice
For Western Poland and the south‑eastern part of the country, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) released first‑degree ice‑risk alerts for Lubusz, Greater Poland, Lower Silesian, southern Pomeranian, West Pomeranian, and western Kujawsko‑Pomorskie voivodeships. The forecast predicts the freezing of wet road and sidewalk surfaces after rainfall and snow‑drizzle, with minimum temperatures of about –2 °C overall and as low as –5 °C at the ground level. These warnings apply to Lubusz, West Pomeranian, and Lower Silesian from Thursday 21 Nov 9 p.m. to Friday 9 a.m.; the rest of the area is warned from the night until 9 a.m. the following day.
Snow Alerts
Second‑degree alerts for heavy snowfall were issued for southern Subcarpathia and Gorlice County, Lesser Poland. Expected accumulations range from 25–35 cm on the plains and 35–50 cm in the mountains, with the strongest falls early Friday. The alert covers 21 Nov 5 a.m. to 22 Nov 8 p.m. First‑degree alerts were also issued for Subcarpathia, southern and central Lesser Poland, and southern Lublin, anticipating 10–15 cm accumulation. These warnings are in force from Friday 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Subcarpathia from 7 a.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday). The Government Security Center issued additional alerts for Gorlice County and several other Podkarpackie counties.
Strong Wind Alerts
Synoptic forecasters released a first‑degree warning of strong winds in northern Pomeranian Voivodeship and Słowiński County, West Pomeranian. Winds are forecast to average up to 40 km/h, with gusts reaching 75 km/h, especially near the coast. The alert runs from Thursday 11 p.m. to Friday 10 a.m.
