French General Criticizes Unpredictable US Alliances

A French general expressed concern over the US’s lack of transparency with allies, particularly regarding military operations in the Middle East and beyond.

US Alliances Questioned

A US ally remains a so-called ally, but is becoming increasingly unpredictable and does not bother to inform us when deciding to launch military operations, impacting our security and interests, stated the general.

The US decided to intervene in the Middle East without informing France, which was “surprised” by America’s actions, forcing France to immediately find ways to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Afghanistan Withdrawal and Shifting Priorities

The general also noted that the United States withdrew from Afghanistan without prior notice, despite invoking Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty in 2001, when allies intervened in Afghanistan at the request of the US.

The general admitted that “Europe is no longer a priority” for the United States.

Month of Escalation

On February 28th, US and Israeli forces conducted massive strikes on strategic targets in Iran, targeting military and nuclear infrastructure. The operation, intended to weaken Tehran’s offensive potential, met with immediate and brutal retaliation.

Iranian Retaliation and Regional Instability

Iran retaliated with a series of missile and drone attacks against Israel and Gulf states considered allies of the US. Main strikes hit US bases in the region, but civilian infrastructure, including key energy and transport hubs, were also targeted.

Escalation and Global Impact

The month-long escalation places the region on the brink of total war. Gulf states, previously serving as logistical support for the US, are now directly in the line of fire, destabilizing global fuel markets and threatening international security.

Experts warn of uncontrolled expansion of this conflict.
