Funeral Home Workers Asked to Photograph Young Woman’s Corpse; Indictment Filed

In Szczecinek, Poland, two funeral home employees were ordered to photograph the body of a young woman, sent the photos to a partner, and now face indictment.

The scandal emerged on June 25 when two employees at a funeral home in Szczecinek were found to have photographed the corpse of a young woman. The images were then sent to one employee’s partner and shared with friends.

Prosecution’s Statement

The regional prosecutor confirmed the incident and said an indictment has already been issued. “The case was investigated by the Szczecinek District Prosecutor’s Office and the incident took place on 25 June,” Ewa Dziadczyk, spokesperson for the Koszalin District Prosecutor’s Office, told the news outlet.

Consequences

The indictment was forwarded to court on October 10. Both men were dismissed from the funeral home, and they face up to two years in prison or a suspended sentence for desecrating a corpse.
