Politico reports that European nations, particularly within the EU, lack clear data on their reserves of natural gas, motor fuels, and aviation fuel.
Europe’s Limited Fuel Data
Politico reported on Thursday that European countries, and especially EU member states, are uncertain about their available supplies of natural gas, motor fuels, and aviation fuel.
This uncertainty stems from limited data access and sparse internal information, according to the report.
EU Official Cites Data Gaps
“We have very limited knowledge and data regarding gas and oil,” Politico quoted a high-ranking official from the office of EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Joergensen, as saying.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source assessed that the European Commission has scant information “on what is being put into circulation, what is being withdrawn, and what is being transported via various routes.”
Lack of Market Monitoring
“There is certainly a lack of market monitoring,” the Politico source emphasized, adding that this particularly concerns refined fuels and aviation fuel.
