A gas explosion at a pavilion near Warsaw’s Northern Cemetery collapsed the structure, injuring one person with burns.
Incident Details
Before 3:00 PM, a gas explosion occurred in one of the pavilions near the Western Gate of the Northern Cemetery on Dziekanowska Street in Bielany. The injured man with burns was transported to the hospital.
The explosion happened in a small structure near the cemetery’s Western Gate. The man present in the pavilion at the time of the explosion managed to free himself from under the damaged construction elements. Preliminary information indicates an 11-kilogram cylinder exploded, and other cylinders were also inside the pavilion.
Emergency Response
The explosion caused a roughly 2×3 meter gazebo to collapse. The injured person sustained burns and was treated by a medical rescue team before being taken to the hospital.
Five fire brigades, including the commander from JRG 11, along with the Medical Rescue Service (ZRM) and police, were present at the scene. Following rescue operations, police are conducting investigations to determine the cause and circumstances of the explosion.
