Gazeta.pl journalist Marta Nowak is among 10 nominees for Amnesty International’s “Pen of Hope” award.

The “Pen of Hope” award recognizes individuals whose media work keeps human rights issues in the public sphere. An Amnesty International expert panel selected 10 nominees, including Gazeta.pl journalist Marta Nowak, co-host of the “Co to będzie” podcast.

Public Voting
This year, two awards will be given. The main award will be decided by a jury considering factors such as the social significance of the topic, reliability, impact on reality, media and public resonance, and innovative approaches to the subject. The Public Choice Award will also be granted. Voting runs until February 27 at 23:59.
2024 Award Winners
Last year, the jury awarded the main prize to Miłka Fijałkowska for covering sensitive topics in mainstream media since the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in a reliable and independent manner, while also recognizing Olivia Bosomtwe for her book “Jak biały człowiek. Opowieść o Polakach i innych”. Dr. Kamil Stępniak, a specialist in constitutional law, human rights, and new technologies, won the Public Choice Award based on online votes. On the occasion of Amnesty International’s 35th anniversary in Poland, Anna Gmiterek-Zabłocka of Radio TOK FM received a Special Award.
