Gazeta Wyborcza photojournalist Jakub Włodek secured top honors at the Grand Press Photo gala, held on Thursday, May 28, at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw.
The Grand Press Photo Competition
Grand Press Photo is Poland’s premier competition for professional photojournalists, including press and documentary photographers, as well as freelancers working for editorial offices, websites, and photographic agencies.
Awards Ceremony and Jury
During the awards gala, the Photo of the Year, alongside winners in single photo, photo reportage, documentary project, Young Poland, and Photo Book categories, were announced. The jury featured Lee-Ann Olwage (South Africa), Weronika Kobylińska, Weronika Mirowska, Maciek Nabrdalik, Maarten Schilt (Netherlands), and Andrzej Zygmuntowicz.
Competition Selections and Results
The final selection included 29 single photos, 7 photo reportages, 4 documentary projects, and 3 Young Poland reportages. Jakub Włodek of Gazeta Wyborcza received the first prize in the Current Event Stories category and the second prize in the People Single category for the 2026 competition.
