Research from the University of Warsaw, in collaboration with SW Research, analyzes the perspectives of Generation Z regarding the job market, including career plans, employer expectations, and work-life balance.

The report also examines demographic and family factors, self-assessment of skills, and views on the economy, national development, and the role of European institutions.

Stability Influences Family Plans

The study indicates that while young people still value family and plan to have children, they prioritize achieving professional and financial stability first.

They also highlight the need for increased state support for public services, particularly childcare, and effective housing policies.

Views on Poland’s Future

Generation Z demonstrates a positive outlook towards Poland’s future, envisioning it as a dynamically developing country aspiring to leadership within the European Union.

However, they express skepticism regarding certain aspects of economic integration, specifically the adoption of the Euro.

Trust in Institutions and Desire for Dialogue

The research reveals a relatively low level of trust in public institutions among young people.

Simultaneously, they emphasize the importance of increased dialogue, inclusion in decision-making processes, and the creation of public policies that reflect their aspirations and expectations.

Panel Discussion Highlights Key Findings

Prof. Jacek Męcina and Marta Seredyńska from the University of Warsaw, along with Piotr Zimolzak from SW Research, presented the study’s findings during a panel discussion.

Participants, including students from the University of Warsaw and the Warsaw School of Economics, underscored the need for greater labor market flexibility, improved education system alignment with economic needs, and stable conditions for starting families.

Gen Z Expects Stability and Flexibility

According to Prof. Męcina, the younger generation realistically perceives the changing labor market, desiring both job security and flexibility, including project-based work.

They are aware of the impact of automation and artificial intelligence and are prepared to continuously upskill and even retrain.

Experts suggest increased state support for skills development and adaptation to the dynamic job market is a key takeaway for future public policies.
