Warsaw police apprehended two Georgian citizens attempting to burglarize a Volkswagen Passat outside a bakery on Chodkowska Street.
Attempted Theft Foiled by Police Intervention
Officers from the Warsaw Capital Police’s Intelligence and Patrol Division arrested two men suspected of attempted car burglary on Chodkowska Street in Warsaw.
The suspects, both citizens of Georgia, targeted a vehicle while the owner was shopping at a local bakery.
Organized Operation and Roles
Investigators determined the suspects operated in a coordinated manner, dividing roles to maximize their chances of success.
One man acted as a lookout near the bakery entrance, monitoring the vehicle owner and signaling his accomplice. The other suspect entered the car through the passenger side.
Search and Arrest
While inside the vehicle, the suspect searched bags and compartments for valuables or documents.
Unaware they were under surveillance by the Intelligence and Patrol Division, both men were apprehended – one inside the car and the other after a brief pursuit.
Police recovered tools potentially used to bypass car security systems during the search.
Charges and Detention
The Warsaw IV District Police Department’s Investigative Division filed charges of attempted car burglary against the Georgian nationals.
Following a request from the Warsaw-Wola District Prosecutor’s Office, the court ordered both men held in temporary arrest for three months.
Potential Penalties
The crime carries a potential sentence of one to ten years imprisonment under the Polish Penal Code.
