German Chancellor Calls Trump on Ukraine Plan
Merz and Trump discussed the European plan for Ukraine on a phone call just before the German chancellor departed for the G20 summit in South Africa. The conversation focused on the American peace plan for Ukraine and the European counterproposal to the 28‑point plan aimed at Ukraine, according to Deutsche Welle journalist Michael Kuefner.
Conversation Reaches Concrete Agreement
German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius said the call was “full of trust and concrete.” Earlier the same day Merz also spoke with Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, France’s Emmanuel Macron, and Britain’s Keir Starmer about Ukraine.
