German Defense Minister Declares Readiness Regarding Iran

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced Germany’s preparedness to contribute to securing a potential ceasefire in a conflict involving Iran, in Canberra.

German Readiness for Potential Ceasefire

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced Germany’s commitment to involvement should a ceasefire occur in a war involving Iran. He warned that such a conflict would be a disaster for the global economy, with consequences already apparent after just over two weeks.

Pistorius made these remarks during a meeting with his Australian counterpart, Richard Marles, in Canberra, Australia.

“This Is Not Our War”

Pistorius emphasized that the conflict is “not our war,” stating that Germany was not consulted beforehand and does not wish to be drawn into it. He called for a “quickest possible” diplomatic solution, directing this appeal primarily to Iran, but also to the United States.

Regional Instability and Maritime Security

The German minister believes instability in the Middle East would have a global impact. He stated Germany is prepared to “secure any peace,” and would discuss any mission to secure a ceasefire, particularly to ensure freedom of maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
