Sebastian M., accused in a fatal A1 highway collision, believes he may serve a sentence under electronic surveillance in Germany, claiming Polish justice has no recourse.
Suspect Confident in Avoiding Polish Prison
Leaked details from Sebastian M.’s recent visit with family reveal his conviction that the Polish justice system will be unable to prosecute him effectively, and that he has a plan to avoid imprisonment.
During the April 10, 2026 meeting at the Piotrków Trybunalski Investigative Detention Center with his wife and sister-in-law, Sebastian M. reportedly expressed confidence in his impending release and the possibility of serving any sentence outside of Poland.
German Passport as a Path to Freedom?
Sebastian M. allegedly claims he will be placed under electronic surveillance in Germany due to his German citizenship, stating, “At the end of the year, I’ll end up with a bracelet in Germany, because that is my first citizenship and Poland will have nothing to say.”
He also reportedly maintains there is evidence undermining his responsibility for the accident and criticized the presiding judge, suggesting bias.
“Signed Documents” and Hidden Information
This is not the first instance of Sebastian M.’s jailhouse conversations becoming public; previous suggestions of influence within the Ministry of Justice led to restrictions on his phone calls.
Key Witness to Challenge Suspect’s Account
A crucial hearing is scheduled for late May, where prosecutors will question a witness regarding Sebastian M.’s claims about the nature of his travel abroad following the accident.
The witness, an employee of the suspect, is expected to dispute the defense’s assertion that the trip was for business purposes.
A Tragedy Poland Will Not Forget
The case stems from a September 2023 accident on the A1 highway near Piotrków Trybunalski, where Sebastian M.’s vehicle, allegedly traveling at nearly 300 km/h, collided with a Kia, resulting in a fire.
The entire family in the Kia – a couple and their young child – perished. Sebastian M. fled Poland after the incident but was later apprehended and extradited.
He faces charges of causing a fatal traffic accident and could receive a sentence of up to 8 years.
