Germany has disclosed a 1,200‑page contingency plan to relocate up to 800,000 NATO troops eastward for a potential Russia conflict, prompting Poland’s Defense Minister to urge European unity.
Germany’s 1,200‑page Contingency Plan Unveiled
The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Germany is drafting a secret 1,200‑page plan for a possible war with Russia, detailing the relocation of up to 800,000 NATO soldiers to the eastern front. Launched two and a half years ago, the document maps out routes via ports, rivers, railways and roads, and outlines how troops would be supplied and protected. Polish officials say the plan’s aim is to deter adversaries by making it clear that any attack would be met with overwhelming defence, thereby reducing the probability of war. German authorities claim Russia could be ready to attack NATO by 2029.
Polish Defense Minister Calls Europe to Act
In a radio interview with ZET, Polish Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz said he would contact NATO command and commission a detailed threat assessment. He added that he would request the military counter‑intelligence service to evaluate the publication and that Poland should learn from recent experience. The minister praised Germany for changing its constitution and increasing defence spending, and warned that “Europe must wake up” and that all these actions must be accelerated.
