Alain Orsonioni was shot dead during his mother’s funeral at Vero cemetery in Corsica on January 12, 2026.
The Shooting at Vero Cemetery
The shooter waited in the woods until mourners gathered at the nearby cemetery in Vero. When the funeral sermon ended, he aimed at Alain Orsonioni’s chest, the son of the woman being laid to rest. It was half past four in the afternoon, January 12, 2026.
Family’s Reaction
Orsonioni’s friend Jo Peraldi told local media: “A cemetery in Corsica is sacred. I’ve never witnessed anyone being murdered while burying their mother.” Christian Leca, one of Orsonioni’s cousins, added: “People don’t get killed in cemeteries. That’s unacceptable.”
Media Silence and Public Whispers
The newspaper Le Monde described the atmosphere in Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica. Not a word in the press about the event in Vero, except for a mention in the news with no comments. In cafes, however, there were whispers about “handsome Alain,” who “cheated death a thousand times.”
