Government to List PPL, CPK, and KDPW as Strategic Companies

The Polish government plans to designate Polish Airports (PPL), the Central Communication Port (CPK), and the National Depository for Securities (KDPW) as strategic entities.

Strategic Company Designation Planned

The government intends to include Polish Airports (PPL), the Central Communication Port (CPK), and the National Depository for Securities (KDPW) on the list of companies of strategic importance to the state.

This is according to the latest legislative work schedule from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, involving an amendment to the regulation concerning the list of companies vital to the national economy, scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

Corporate Updates and Changes

Beyond adding PPL, CPK, and KDPW to the list, the project aims to update and streamline data reflecting recent changes, including completed mergers – such as Orlen with Grupa Lotos and Polish Oil and Gas Mining – and company name changes.

These name changes include Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen and Krajowa Spółka Cukrowa (based in Toruń) becoming Orlen and Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza, respectively. Changes in company headquarters, such as PGE moving from Warsaw to Lublin and Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe from Warsaw to Gdańsk, are also incorporated.

Liquidation of Media Companies

The project also addresses the liquidation of media companies – the Polish Press Agency, Polish Television, and Polish Radio.
