Grandfather’s Home Used as Front for Car Theft Ring

Police in downtown Warsaw have dismantled a criminal operation where three men aged 26 to 47 used a family home in the Legionowo district to dismantle and sell stolen vehicles.

The Discovery of the Illicit Workshop

Officers from the Wilcza Street station conducted an extensive operation targeting a series of vehicle thefts across Warsaw. Investigations led police to a single-family home where one of the suspects had established a chop shop, deceiving his grandfather by claiming he was running a legitimate workshop with friends.

Tactical Raid and Evidence Seizure

Following careful surveillance, police raided the property and recovered two stolen vehicles valued at approximately 200,000 PLN, which had been repainted and listed for sale online. Officers also confiscated a large volume of car parts, a gas pistol, signal jammers, and a vehicle that had been cut into pieces inside a delivery van.

Charges and Judicial Status

The three suspects were taken into custody. A 40-year-old man faces burglary and theft charges, which carry a potential 10-year sentence; he was also found to be wanted for a separate two-year prison term. Two other men, aged 26 and 47, were charged with receiving stolen property and face up to five years in prison. The case is being supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw.
