Polish deputy prime minister Krzysztof Gawkowski reported on Monday that hackers gained access to the email accounts of staff at the Public Procurement Agency and the National Appeals Chamber.

Cyberattack on Public Procurement Agency

Polish officials confirmed a hacker attack on the Public Procurement Agency (UZP). Cybercriminals gained entry to the email accounts of UZP staff and those of the National Appeals Chamber. The incident was reported to the responsible cyber‑security authorities, and necessary security measures were activated to manage the breach and limit damage.

Deputy Prime Minister’s Remarks

Deputy Prime Minister and digitization minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said the number of cyberattacks is rising and becoming increasingly dangerous. He urged all public institutions and private firms to give utmost priority to securing electronic access to their systems and to follow the standards established in the National Cyber Security System. He highlighted the central platform cyber.gov.pl, offering practical advice, alerts and free protection services.

Email Access and Potential Data Exposure

In a statement released Monday, the Public Procurement Agency confirmed that malicious actors had purposely and harmfully accessed the agency’s email system. Technical investigations suggest the possibility of downloading messages. These emails contained correspondence with personal data, including identifying and contact information, financial data, and other information sent to the agency in the course of its duties—such as controls, complaints, applications, appeals, or organizational matters. At present, the agency reports no evidence that such data have been made public.
