Hacks Hit School Electronic Diaries as Nowacka Responds

Education Minister Barbara Nowacka addressed hacking incidents in school diaries and plans for a secure government system.

Hacking Incidents Reported

Education Minister Barbara Nowacka reported 3-4 hacking incidents into electronic diary accounts during a press conference in Leżajsk on January 19.

Nowacka stated the ministry doesn’t create the Librus system (a commercial service) and that appropriate authorities are investigating the causes.

New Government Diary System Planned

Nowacka announced the Ministry of National Education is working with the Ministry of Digital Affairs to create a government electronic diary.

The secure system would use e-Citizen login, with the first phase planned for implementation by September 1, 2027.

Otwock School Hacked

On Sunday, hackers infiltrated an electronic diary at a school complex in Otwock, giving students failing grades in one subject and sending vulgar messages.

The incident was reported to police on Monday, similar to a recent case in Dragacz.

Educational Reform Goals

During her Leżajsk visit, Nowacka discussed the “Compass of Tomorrow” reform, emphasizing practical skills and student engagement.

The reform aims to make schools more supportive yet demanding, focusing on essential knowledge, competencies, and skills.
