He Was to Hide the Girl’s Body Under the Sofa. 28-Year-Old from Bielan Refuses to Talk, But Investigators Have a Plan

Police arrest 28-year-old man suspected of murdering 18-year-old girl whose body was found hidden under a sofa in Warsaw apartment.

He Refused to Provide Passwords

The 28-year-old suspect refused to provide explanations about what happened. At this point, investigators are mainly relying on evidence from the inspection and autopsy report. Devices belonging to the 28-year-old may prove to be important evidence, though gaining access will take time as he refused to provide passwords to his computer and phone. His devices may contain information about possible motives.

The 18-year-old’s phone was also found, and the 28-year-old may be referred for psychiatric observation after evaluation by psychiatrists who must first interview him. Investigators determined the two had been meeting for several months.

Missing Person Report

On January 2, the mother of the 18-year-old reported her daughter’s disappearance to police. She stated her daughter didn’t return home after New Year’s Eve. The girl’s 28-year-old partner claimed he had walked her to the bus stop and then lost contact with her.

Body Found in Bielan Apartment

Shortly after, the suspect’s mother called emergency services, reporting an unconscious young woman in her son’s room. Medical teams arrived first and confirmed the 18-year-old’s death. The body was wrapped in a blanket and found under a sofa. An autopsy determined the cause of death was strangulation.

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged with murder and hiding the body. The court has applied a three-month temporary detention order.
