A serious accident occurred on Monday, September 22, at 5:30 PM on Kapitana Doranta Street in Zakroczym, Poland, involving a Fiat Seicento and a Ford Transit bus.
Incident Details
The accident took place on a viaduct over the S7 route, where a Fiat Seicento collided head-on with a Ford Transit bus. The bus was driven by a 22-year-old citizen of Turkmenistan, with six people on board. The Fiat Seicento had only one occupant, the driver, who became trapped in the vehicle.
Rescue Efforts
Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the trapped driver from the wreckage. The driver of the Seicento was in critical condition and was transported by a helicopter from the Air Ambulance Service (LPR) to a hospital in Warsaw. A front-seat passenger in the bus suffered a head injury and was also hospitalized.
Other Casualties and Response
The remaining four passengers in the Ford Transit bus did not sustain serious injuries. The viaduct was completely blocked in both directions during the rescue operations, which involved fire departments, police, medical teams, and the LPR helicopter.
