A Polish education expert warns of consequences as the Ministry of National Education delays a decision on the future of health education in schools.
Discussion Should Move to Schools
Dr. Barbara Jamrozowicz of the Jagiellonian University’s Institute of Pedagogy states that the discussion surrounding health education should be moved to the school level, according to DGP.
The expert also discusses the consequences of various decisions the Ministry of National Education (MEN) could make regarding the subject’s future.
Deadline Looms for School Directors
The MEN was expected to announce a decision by the end of March regarding the status of health education, which currently operates on a voluntary basis in schools. As of now, the principles under which the subject will be implemented from September are unknown.
The delay in a decision puts school directors in a difficult position, as they must submit organizational plans by April 21st, with an additional 10 working days for approval. If a decision isn’t announced by Tuesday after the holidays, directors will face significant time pressure.
This pressure will require quick decisions regarding subject allocation and scheduling, which is challenging and burdensome.
