Heatwave Alert Issued for Western Poland

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued first-degree weather warnings as temperatures are expected to climb between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius across parts of western Poland on Tuesday.

Regions Under Weather Alerts

Alerts will be in effect for the majority of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, the western part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, the southern districts of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, and the northern part of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The warnings, which signify potential for dangerous meteorological phenomena that could cause material damage or pose risks to health and life, are active from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday.

Synoptic Situation and Forecast

Poland remains under the influence of a high-pressure system centered near Great Britain and Germany, while the northeast remains on the edge of a low-pressure area. Warm polar maritime air is flowing into most of the country.

Tuesday, May 26, will see temperatures ranging from 19-20 degrees Celsius in the north and coastal regions to 30 degrees Celsius in the west. Winds will be mostly moderate, with gusts reaching up to 55-65 km/h in some areas.

Outlook for Tuesday Night and Wednesday

Overnight, clouds will increase with potential for showers and thunderstorms in the Lublin and Masovian regions. Minimum temperatures will range from 9 to 16 degrees Celsius, with gusty winds persisting in the mountains.

On Wednesday, conditions will vary, with temperatures reaching 25-26 degrees Celsius in the south. The weather will remain unstable with moderate to strong winds and potential thunderstorms in the southern and southeastern regions.
