On Tuesday, 25 November, a cargo load detached from a helicopter and fell near the Valeo plant in Chrzanów, Poland, amid an ongoing strike.
Helicopters Replace Trucks During Valeo Strike
The Valeo factories in Chrzanów, in the Lesser Poland region, have been on strike for several days, with production staff blocking exit routes from the plant to demand higher wages and better working conditions.
In a drastic move, management began using helicopters to transport finished goods to a transshipment point in the Trzebinia municipality, dispersing regular flights over local buildings.
Cargo Falls Near Plant After Helicopter Detaches
On 25 November, one of the cargo loads detached from the helicopter’s rope and fell onto forested land close to the factory. The load comprised automotive headlights produced in Chrzanów.
Police were called to the scene and the Polish Air Accident Investigation Board was notified. No injuries were reported, though local residents expressed safety concerns as helicopters would later fly directly over houses.
Strike Persists Despite Initial Agreement
Striking workers cite low wages and lack of bonus incentives for long‑term employees, seeking a 1,000 PLN gross raise and higher shift‑work allowances.
Although an initial agreement was reached and the plant was unlocked, the protest continues. Employees are promised a 1,000 PLN gross Christmas bonus by 10 December.
