Polish MP Szymon Hołownia addressed media reports concerning the Collegium Humanum university, dismissing accusations of fraudulent enrollment and degree attainment.
Hołownia Responds to Media Reports
Szymon Hołownia responded to media reports regarding Collegium Humanum with an extensive statement, framing his response as an ironic dialogue to refute the claims against him.
He admits to considering studies at Collegium Humanum and submitting application documents, but firmly denies attending classes, knowing the rector, or arranging for a fictitious diploma.
Prosecution Inquiry Anticipated?
Hołownia argues the logic of the accusations is absurd, stating that without evidence of an agreement, payment, or contact with the rector, the rector—not him—would be the responsible party if any wrongdoing occurred.
He also points to the timing of successive “media outbursts” in the case, suggesting they coincided with politically sensitive moments: votes of confidence, the presidential candidacy decision, resignation from the marshal’s position, and coalition votes.
No Expectation of Prosecution, Claims Hołownia
Hołownia states he does not expect a formal prosecutorial request, believing that courts require evidence, which he claims is lacking in this case. He suggests leaks are intended for manipulation, not genuine investigation.
He added that, “In the media, especially ‘friendly’ ones, the old Roman principle applies: ‘throw s***, something will always stick.’ Prosecution request? I assume there won’t be one. Because the prosecution, by leaking information, can manipulate, but no prosecutor would risk going to court with nothing.”
Investigation Targets Hołownia and Koboski
Journalists from TVN24 have learned that prosecutors investigating the Collegium Humanum scandal are preparing requests to lift the parliamentary immunity of Szymon Hołownia, Vice-Marshal of the Sejm, and Michał Koboski, a Member of the European Parliament.
Work on the detailed justification for the documents has been ongoing since February, and upon completion, the requests will be submitted to the Sejm and the European Parliament.
Allegations of Document Forgery
Onet reports that investigators in Silesia intend to charge the politician from Poland 2050 with forging documents related to his studies at Collegium Humanum.
