A 20-year-old man from the Siedlce district was apprehended after causing a collision in Trzebucza on May 20, driving an illegally modified, roofless vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Collision and Evasion
On May 20, in the village of Trzebucza, a driver operating a Renault failed to yield to a Volvo, causing a collision. The female driver of the Volvo was transported to the hospital, though her injuries were fortunately not severe.
The perpetrator fled the scene on foot immediately following the crash. Intensive investigative work by Węgrów police led to the identification and arrest of the 20-year-old suspect at his place of residence.
Illegal Vehicle and Lack of Credentials
Upon inspection, officers determined the Renault was in a dangerous technical state and unfit for public roads. Most notably, the roof had been removed, creating a significant hazard for other motorists.
Furthermore, authorities discovered that the suspect had never obtained a driver’s license. The man now faces charges under Article 178d of the Penal Code for gross violation of road safety rules, which carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison.
Legal Consequences
Following the prosecutor’s decision, the 20-year-old has been placed under police supervision. In addition to the primary charge, he will also face proceedings for operating a motor vehicle without the required authorization.
