Horrific Bus Crash Kills Nine Polish Tourists in Antalya

A bus carrying Polish tourists crashed in Antalya, Turkey, killing nine people and injuring 21.

On Saturday evening, the bus departed from Tekirdag city with Antalya, a popular resort in southwestern Turkey, as its destination. On Sunday after 10 a.m. local time, the vehicle left the road, broke through barriers, and fell into a ditch.

Governor Cites Weather and Speed

Hulusi Sahin, governor of Antalya, stated that at the time of the accident the road surface was wet and fog was present in the area. He noted that there is no place where fast driving would be appropriate, suggesting the bus was traveling at excessive speed.

In the accident, nine people died, including the bus driver, and 21 were injured. Seven people are in critical condition, and two required amputations.

Investigation Launched

Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc announced that an investigation has been initiated into the accident, assuring it would be conducted meticulously. The case has been assigned, among others, to the deputy prosecutor general.
