Investigation Background
On Wednesday, November 5, Łódź police received a report about a man who appeared poised to fall from the second floor of a Piotrkowska street tenement. An ambulance also arrived. The 37‑year‑old was conscious, identified two suspects leaving the nearby gate, and was taken to hospital. The suspects were initially detained by city guards before being handed over to police.
Victim’s Torture Claims
According to Officer Kamila Sowińska, the victim had been held in the same apartment for at least several days before the escape. An old acquaintance invited him to an evening gathering during which guests drank alcohol. A quarrel arose, and the victim was accused of owing money. He was tied to a chair, forced to stay against his will, and threatened with finger‑cutting. Reports add that he was beaten and stabbed with a knife.
Arrests and Charges
Investigations uncovered two additional suspects. A 35‑year‑old, a 29‑year‑old, a 25‑year‑old, and a 28‑year‑old acquaintance are now charged with deprivation of liberty and robbery, facing up to ten years in prison. A prosecutor requested temporary arrest; the court granted it for three men.
