Early Thursday morning, a hotel and restaurant in Mniszew, Kozienice County, Poland, caught fire on its roof; nine occupants evacuated, and about 140 firefighters tackled flames covering two‑thirds of the building.
Fire Ignites on Roof
At just after 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, a fire broke out on the attic of a hotel and restaurant in Mniszew. Initial assessments attribute the blaze to the roof covering, which quickly engulfed roughly two‑thirds of the structure.
Massive Response
Around 140 fire fighters converged on the scene, drawn from the Kozienice County Fire Brigade, volunteer fire services, and support units from neighboring counties. Four teams were dispatched from Piaseczno County to assist.
Engineering Approach
Due to the building’s location and the extent of the fire, crews carried out demolition work on the roof to reach the fire source and eliminate hidden hotspots. Systematic opening of roof sections allowed the team to extinguish affected layers and remove flammable elements.
Perimeter Secured
All nine people present in the hotel were able to leave the building before the arrival of first responders. Firefighters also secured the area surrounding the hotel to prevent further spread.
Investigation Ahead
Rescue operations focused on limiting fire spread, defending the unburned portions, and drying the structure. The cause of the incident will be investigated by the fire brigade and the police.
