Fire engulfed vacant building in Warsaw’s Wawer district; all 6 residents evacuated safely before emergency services arrived.
Incident Details
On March 14 at 22:10, Warsaw firefighters received a report of a building fire on Tęczowa Street in Marysin Wawerski. Upon arrival, they found a fully developed fire in a semi-detached building. The fire affected a vacant property connected by a wall to a residential building.
Emergency Response
All 6 residents of the building had evacuated independently before emergency services arrived. On-site, 22 fire brigades (78 JRG and OSP firefighters), Police, Medical Rescue Team, Power Emergency Service, and the Operational Officer of the Warsaw Municipal Fire Department were present.
Firefighting Operations
Firefighters secured the area, applied water streams from a mechanical ladder, extendable ladder, and inside the building. Operations were hindered by numerous flammable materials both in the building and on the property.
Special Equipment Used
A telescopic Manitou loader was used to reach hidden fire sources in the waste pile.
Fire Containment
The fire was localized at 03:17, and all operations were completed around 07:00.
