Huawei Startup Challenge V Concludes with Focus on AgriTech Innovation

The fifth edition of the Huawei Startup Challenge has concluded, awarding 300,000 PLN to startups Nirby, Biostra, and PeptechLab for groundbreaking advancements in the Polish agricultural and food production technology sectors.

Winners of the AgriTech Challenge

The competition’s jury selected three startups to share the 300,000 PLN prize pool. Nirby secured first place and 150,000 PLN for its precision farming system utilizing satellite data, autonomous drones, and AI. Biostra took second place and 100,000 PLN for its bio-waste conversion technology, while PeptechLab earned third place and 50,000 PLN for its biotechnological solutions in food production.

Advancing Polish AgriTech

The jubilee edition of the program attracted a record number of participants focused on transforming the agri-food sector through digital and biological innovation. Finalists presented their solutions to a jury comprised of business, science, and public sector experts, showcasing the maturing potential of the Polish technology ecosystem.

Expert Perspectives on Industry Transformation

Ryszard Hordyński of Huawei Polska emphasized the sector’s vital role in national food security and the high caliber of entries. Adrian Migoń, CEO of Youth Business Poland, noted that the industry is shifting from traditional methods toward data-driven automation, with many startups now developing solutions capable of competing on the international market.

Additional Distinctions

Beyond the top three placements, the Audience Award was presented to Nirby. Special mentions were granted by competition partners to Nirby, Projekt Gizmo, and PeptechLab for their business potential and practical applications. The event was held under the honorary patronage of numerous government ministries, regional authorities, and academic institutions.
