Polls conducted before Sunday’s parliamentary elections in Hungary, and published after voting closed at 7 p.m. on Sunday, indicate a clear victory for the opposition party led by Tisza Peter Magyar.
Median Poll Findings
According to a Median poll conducted between April 7-11, Tisza’s party could secure up to 135 seats in the 199-seat, unicameral parliament. The far-right Our Homeland Movement (Mi Hazank) does not exceed the 5 percent electoral threshold, according to the survey.
21 Research Center Data
Tisza also leads in a pre-election poll by the 21 Research Center. The survey shows Magyar’s party enjoys the support of 55 percent of voters, while Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz can count on 38 percent. Our Homeland Movement is on the verge of the electoral threshold.
Translated into parliamentary seats, Tisza would receive 132, and Fidesz would receive 61.
Vote Counting and Results Timeline
Exit polls are not conducted in Hungary. Vote counting began immediately after 7 p.m. when polling stations closed. The National Election Office (NVI) announced that the first partial results should be published around 8 p.m.
