Police Detain Hunter in Connection with Death

Police have detained a hunter following a fatal shooting incident that occurred during a hunt in the Trąbki Wielkie municipality. The incident took place between Saturday and Sunday, March 21/22.

According to Pruszcz Gdański Police spokesman asp. Karol Kościuk, one man died as a result of the shooting. Both individuals involved were hunters, reports indicate.

Investigation Underway

The 47-year-old man who reported the incident to authorities has been detained, and evidence is being secured under the supervision of the prosecutor. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances and cause of the event.

Prosecutor’s Office Involved

The Gdańsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation, which is in its initial stages. Prosecutor Wioletta Noch stated that police are continuing to gather evidence.

Polish Hunting Association Expresses Regret

The Polish Hunting Association (PZŁ) has released a statement expressing its regret over the incident, which occurred on March 21, 2026, in Graniczna Wieś, Gdańsk County.

The PZŁ emphasized its full cooperation with law enforcement to clarify the circumstances and causes of the accident. The organization stressed the importance of safety, responsibility, and adherence to regulations.

The PZŁ has already notified the relevant regional disciplinary advocate to investigate the incident, who will take appropriate disciplinary action upon completion of the investigation.
