The north side of Hynka Street has been under renovation since November 7, with work set to finish at 10 p.m. on November 14, creating severe congestion during peak hours.
Renovation Timeline
Morning of November 12, drivers were surprised by the ongoing renovation of the northern stretch of Hynka Street, which, according to plan, will conclude on Friday, November 14, at 10 p.m.
Traffic Management Changes
The works cover the northbound lane of Hynka Street and require altered traffic organization at the junction with Żwirka i Wigura, Sasanki, Łopuszańska, and access to Krakowska Avenue. During the works, the turn from Żwirka i Wigura into Hynka is blocked; the straight from Sasanki operates on a single lane; the same narrowing applies to entrance from Łopuszańska; and turning onto Krakowska from Hynka is prohibited.
Impact on Rush Hours
In the morning peak, the restrictions caused major congestion. Large traffic jams formed on Żwirka i Wigura heading toward the airport, on Sasanki toward Łopuszańska, and on Łopuszańska from the side of Jerusalem Avenue. Bypasses are possible via 1st of August Street or Workers’ Defense Committee Street.
Driver Non‑Compliance
Some drivers ignore the bans and altered traffic rules, entering Hynka Street despite prohibitions, moving along sidewalks, and driving against traffic on the renovated lane toward Żwirka i Wigura, which hampers the work.
Work Continues Through Friday
Planned disruptions will last until Friday, November 14, at 10 p.m. Until then, expected increased traffic density and longer travel times persist in the area.
