Polish police and tax officials raided an illegal gambling establishment in Warsaw’s Mokotów district, seizing five slot machines and detaining a Ukrainian citizen.

Operation Targets Illegal Gambling

Police from Mokotów’s Department for Combating Economic Crime, in collaboration with the Mazowiecki Tax and Customs Office, conducted a raid against illegal gambling operations.

The operation stemmed from intelligence indicating a location on Mokotów was hosting unlawful gambling activities, diverting funds from the state treasury.

Establishment Operated with Caution

Operators of the illegal establishment adjusted opening hours to suit their clientele, attempting to avoid detection.

However, once authorities confirmed the illegal activity, they immediately notified the Mazowiecka Tax Chamber and initiated action.

Ukrainian Citizen Detained

During the raid, conducted shortly after 3:00 PM, officers found a 44-year-old Ukrainian citizen overseeing the slot machines.

The woman was unable to provide any documentation proving legal business operation or a gambling license and was taken into custody for questioning.

Five Machines Seized

Authorities confiscated five slot machines found to be operational and prepared for illegal gambling, violating existing regulations.

The machines were secured by tax officials, and illegal gambling carries a potential prison sentence of up to three years.

Location Details

The operation took place in the Mokotów, Ursynów, and Wilanów districts.
